Sharing Memories

When Carol came to the shop, she was in search of a memorable dress for her wedding day. She wanted a special dress which represented her simple taste and suited her petite silhouette. After trying on a few styles, she came across a pretty pink dress with beaded detail around the top of the bust line.
It looked so great on her. She was really happy and decided to add a light chiffon shawl for the ceremony, which we made for her to match.

Next was her maid of honor. Nancy opted for a 2 piece chiffon ensemble, with a lovely shawl that complimented that of Carol's. Nancy's outfit was sage in color and was beautiful as it brought out her pretty eyes.

Thanks Carol, thanks Nancy, it was a pleasure to serve you and good luck in the future.

It is so hard to believe that March has arrived, making the evening so well lite until 7pm.
It is during the month of March, that most of us make plans with families and children, leaving on such excursions as week long getaways to warm destinations. It gives all such joy to forget the cold days of winter even for just that week, and soak up the great sunshine.

For those of us who find it hard to get away, with heavy workloads, we find day trips to satisfy our need to get out. Packing up the car with kids, treats and fun music for the drive.

March break is a great time to bond with your family and spend quality time together. We all need to be needed and we all could use the fun times.

For some, we catch up on shopping and look to future events to get a head start on the competition. For young girls graduating grade 8 or grade 12, it is a great opportunity to seek that perfect dress.

March is the month when all new Spring collections arrive in stores. The best selection is waiting on the racks in many boutiques. It is your chance to get first selection!!

So, moms , if your daughter approaches you for a fun day of shopping for her graduation dress, bring her out. Spend that quality time together, it will be fun and exciting and will conjure up your own memories of graduation.

New resolutions in 2009

January always tend to be an interesting month for most. It is the start of the new year and we all feel tired from the holidays. We were rushed in December and all stressed out from the shopping. It is after the holidays and we feel full from all the food we ate. A new year brings new resolutions and goals we work at to defeat.

It is time to get in shape, because new events are approaching, events that involve spiffy dressing and looking absolutely marvelous. So where do we start? How many months before the wedding? How many pounds to get back into my great black halter dress?
Well...... start today!! A little initiative on our part, we will all get there. Remember, smaller portions helps too.

So when you do start to feel like yourself again, look in your wardrobe and take a good inventory. Take stock of these essential pieces: a great black dress, a bolero or shawl, nude stockings, a great high heeled evening shoe and a must have bag.
If you do not have any of these five items.........get out and pick them up!
A special occassion can come your way at any moment. Be ready.

'Tis the season.....

So are we all ready for the holidays??
I often feel so stressed out this time of year.
Being in the fashion industry and working the ridiculous hours of retailing, I always have to rush out at the last minute to get the Christmas gifts.
It is not so easy, when you have the hardest people on your list to buy for. You know the ones......the "I don't need anything" types. Adults who seem to have it all, by this point in life become such a task. You want to bring a smile to their face, but they always seem to fake it.

Well....I decided that the kids will be easy, although I do have 9 to buy for. All I require is 2 hours alone at a toy store and I am sure I will bring great joy to the children.

Overall, I love this time of year. It is wonderful and it gives me great pleasure to see others so happy. We should also remember those who have no one to share the holidays with. Make some time to visit the less fortunate and consider a donation to a food bank this holiday season.

A Wedding in Vegas.......

Just recently, a young lady came in to see our selection of gowns. Nothing too formal, but with just the right amount of class. She described her dream wedding gown for her fairy tale wedding. After trying on a few dresses, the style was established that best suited her. She was ecstatic at the thought of finding a silohette that best suited her petite frame. All the while mentioning that it was hard to find things in every day life to fit her.
It is exactly five months away which gives her plenty of time for all the other important things.
Who will fly out? Where will they stay? The planning never stops, until the day approaches and everything comes together. How exciting it must be to plan a wedding for such a destination.

The colors of FALL..

How is that when September rolls around, it just feels like summer is over? With the kids back to school and all provincial parks closed after labour day week-end, it certainly does not feel like summer vacation any longer. Less extra curricular activities and now we are all back to regular routine. My six year old son, now in the swing of going to school every day, insists summer is over!!

Ok, so let's look ahead to Fall. There is so much to explore. What a wonderful palette of colors to experience. We all know from the fashion magazines that PURPLE is the Hot color of choice. Everyone SHOULD own one article of clothing in Purple. After all, it is a color that looks good on everyone. Let's also look at complimenting shades of purple, with charcoal and black.Another color to experiment with is cobalt blue and tones of this ROYAL family.So many skin types can wear this regal color. It pairs up beautifully with with navy and makes black powerful. Now for all women who adore the EMERALD and I am not talking the gem, you will be happy to see it again in this years line up of gowns and separates. It has become an important color to coordinate with every ones favorite...BLACK. For those who worship RED, it is back in fiery shades and the many have berry undertones. A great color to team up with Black and the earthy BROWN of the season.

Summer Styles

Well, we have waited patiently for the warm weather and it has finally come. With the heat, it is hard to feel cool especially when we have to get fancied up for a wedding or special event.
Women are more lucky than men when it comes to summer clothing, in that, it must be very unpleasant wearing a 3pc suit on a sunny 30 degree, humid day.

The styles for women this summer are light and airy. Many dresses are chiffon, silk or cotton. The hottest style this season is a low back halter. It is a very flattering neckline and it can be found in geometric patterns and solid options. Another great neckline is the strapless dress, and can be found in short and longer lines. These designs are nice because you can add straps if you prefer, and take along a shawl as it becomes cool in the evening. The short simple tank dress is great because you can play it up with large and chunky stones set with swarovski crystals in a silver necklace and remember to take along a shrug. Short sleeve style dresses are often cut on the bias and skim a women's silhouette. While other short sleeve dresses can look less formal in cotton, it is easy to add jewellery to make the outfit look glamorous.

When the snow starts to melt and the rain freshens the air and clears the ground, it is a sure sign that women are on their way in to order dresses for Summer weddings.
What most of us forget is that a great amount of formal wear needs to be special ordered. This could take as little as 2 weeks and as long as 12 weeks.

So, it is important to allocate at least 4 full months when shopping for your perfect dress.

Spring Fashion is all about bolero jackets over simple dresses. Although chiffon happens to be more popular for summer weddings, most women will add a shawl and wear an airy, light gown in the Spring.
